KATIE PECHO
COMEDY & COPYWRITER
PUNK SINGER
FILMMAKER
GOOFTROOPER
Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome, come on in.
I’m Katie Pecho, a comedy, copy, & screenwriter, punk singer, and pigeon evangelist from Chicago.
After a Creative Writing B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an accidental decade-long career in cybersecurity (happens to the best of us), and a nearly four-year stint as an in-house copy and screenwriter in legal tech, I have excitedly returned to the sexy, sexy world of freelance writing.
I’m also the singer and co-songwriter of the indie punk band Billionaire Fight Club. I have an autobiographical black comedy short film in the works about the galling indignity of American healthcare. And I’m writing a book of comedic personal essays about such light and breezy topics as childhood trauma, the poisonous stranglehold of the patriarchy on the dating pool, and breaking up with a guy who handled the rejection with such decorum that he took the lightbulbs when he moved out like The Grinch.
I live to dazzle, delight, and inspire with the written word. I write everything from comedy to copy, TED talks to web pages, screenplays to résumés. There is nothing within the written realm that I won’t try to get my hands on.
Because creative skills are like Pokémon — you gotta catch ‘em all.
